The CHC is a non profit corporation providing high quality affordable housing for rent or purchase to low or moderate income families or others with special needs that is comparable to conventional market rate properties since 1968.

Mission:

To make available to families with low or moderate incomes high quality rental housing and to guide these families on to home ownership. CHC also manages and maintains group homes for disabled and mentally challenged individuals, and provides units for low-income senior citizens.

Origin:

Incorporated in 1967, the Columbia Housing Corporation is a non-profit professional real estate organization based in Howard County, Maryland that provides affordable housing for low-income renters. The organization has expanded its activities to provide rental housing to other groups with special needs, and to help renters to become homeowners.

The Columbia Housing Corporation was founded by a tripartite league of religious organizations that included the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore, the Combined Ministries (a Protestant association), and the Jewish Council of Howard County. In 1978 Howard County community representatives replaced the faith based governing body continuing its goal by providing affordable housing for low and moderate-income families of Howard County.
